Octomar Serviços Marítimos Lda was established on 2nd February 1998 through a joint venture agreement between SMIT Terminals (formerly Octo Marine) operating out of South Africa, and Marsub – Trabalhos Submarinos, an Angolan diving services company.
The specific intention of Octomar’s formation was to provide integrated marine services to oilfield clients within the Angolan region by combining the proven skills, resources and assets of its shareholders and associates. The agreement was further motivated by the success of contracts undertaken jointly between SMIT Terminals and Marsub over the previous three years within the Angolan region.
It is Octomar’s policy to develop local infrastructure and train local people, thus assuring a high local content in its operations. Octomar provides a variety of multi-disciplinary turnkey services relating to:
· Oilfield support – anchor handling, multi-purpose and field support vessels
· Operation and maintenance of offshore tanker terminals
· Underwater operations and IRM
· Marine contracting support
· ROVs (remotely operated vehicles)
· Dive support vessels.
To supplement Octomar’s own resources, its teams draw from appropriate group resources and capabilities for any of the following: design and project engineering, specialist vessels, oceaneering, tankers for FPSOs and ocean transportation.
